Effective Date: March 1, 2026
At Wislo, we exist to help parents guide their children’s screen time with kindness and care — never to collect more information than necessary.
We are committed to keeping your family’s information safe and private. This policy explains — in plain words — what we collect, why we need it, how we protect it, and how you stay in control.
We use Firebase (by Google) for crash reporting and basic app usage analytics. This helps us fix bugs and improve Wislo. These tools do not track you across other apps or build advertising profiles.
Wislo requires specific Android permissions to function. We follow the principle of “Data Minimization”—we only access what is needed for the app to work.
Accessibility Service API (Core Functionality): Wislo uses this API to detect when a “tracked app” is launched. This is the only way we can trigger the lock screen or the grade-based questions at the correct time.
Privacy Guarantee: This API is used exclusively for app detection. Wislo does not monitor, collect, or transmit any private data including messages, photos, keystrokes, or screen content. This data is processed locally on your device and is never shared or sold.
Usage Access: Required to calculate time spent in different apps so the Parent Dashboard shows honest, helpful reports.
Background Autostart & Battery Optimization: Ensures Wislo can reliably trigger educational challenges even when your child is deep into their favorite app.
Query All Packages (App Visibility): Wislo requires the “Query All Packages” permission to list out in Parents Dashboard showing which apps are used for how much time. This permission allows the app to display usage data and icons in the Parent Dashboard and is essential for triggering educational interventions. We use this information solely to populate the Parent Dashboard and do not share this data with third parties for advertising or any other purpose.
Foreground Service (FGS): To ensure continuous protection and reliable delivery of grade-based questions, Wislo uses a Foreground Service. This prevents the Android system from killing the app process, ensuring that your child’s screen time remains supervised even during long usage sessions. A persistent notification is shown to signify that Wislo is active.
Notifications: Necessary to keep the Wislo service active in the background.
All these permissions are required for Wislo to work properly — please keep them enabled to make use of the app functionalities.
We do not sell, rent, or trade any of your family’s data — ever.
We share analytical data only in these very limited situations:
Wislo is a tool for Parental Control. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. All child profiles are created and managed by the parent/guardian. We do not use child data for marketing or behavioral advertising. We follow children’s privacy rules very carefully.
We take security seriously and use strong protections — but no system on the internet can promise 100% safety. If you click a link inside Wislo that takes you to another website, that site has its own privacy rules — please check them.
If we ever need to make important changes, we will tell you inside the app and/or by email. We recommend checking back here from time to time.
This policy follows Indian law. Any questions or disputes will be handled under the laws of Karnataka, with courts in Bengaluru having jurisdiction.
